Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has an incentive for anyone who arrests people who dumb garbage illegally. The governor promised the Nairobi residents half of the fines meted on the guilty individuals while promising to have this enacted in the county laws.
As we unclog the drainage system throughout the city, let’s kindly desist from further illegal dumping.
Gov Johnson Sakaja
Parts of Nairobi are filled with filth coming from the illegal disposal of garbage. This has caused further effects on the city drainage system including flooding, sewage blockage, and even property damages.

Ukiona mtu akidump and you record, mulika kabisa; we arrest, prosecute and split the fine. Will work on the county law to provide for this. Let’s keep our city clean.
Gov Sakaja
In October, Sakaja voiced his concerns on the garbage menace in Nairobi and blamed the cause of this on the previous administration’s neglect, illegal dumping and contractors downing their tools over unpaid dues.
Previously, Sakaja had declared that his government will float an international green bond to facilitate building of a mass transit system and expansion of the infrastructure for waste management as well as water distribution across the city.
We all hope this dream works. We all need a clean Nairobi.
