Top Performing Students/ Schools in KCSE 2022

Otieno Lewis Omondi Glen and Fwaro Makokha Robinson are the leading pupils in the recently announced 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations. They each scored 431 marks out of a possible 500 marks, just 69 marks shy of maximum score. 

Glen sat his exams at St Peter’s Mumias Boys Primary School while Robinson was at Christ the King Primary School in Bungoma County. Th two topped 1,244,188 other candidates who sat the examination at various schools across the country. 

While releasing the results, Education Cabinet Secretary said a total of 9,443 candidates scored 400 marks and above while 307,756 scored between 300 and 399 marks. 620,965 of the candidates were boys representing 50.32 per cent while 612,887 candidates were girls, representing 49.7 per cent.

According to Machogu, the 2022 KCPE overall performance improved from 2021, with some 9,443 learners scoring at least 400 marks and above.

At the same time, the CS announced that Form One selection will be completed by January 16, 2023.

The Education CS said the early completion of the selection exercise is aimed at giving parents adequate time to prepare for admissions to secondary school.

The Ministry is determined to place the 2022 KCPE candidates in secondary schools as soon as possible to give parents adequate time to prepare them for the admissions to Form One.

To get KCPE results, candidates to send their index numbers and initials with the word KCPE to SMS short code 20076.
