Here is what you are not being told about that incident at an SDA Church, in which a half of the bridesmaids were rejected, and ejected from the function by that Pastor. The real, and only reason is that they are Catholic.
His initial claim that they were indecently dressed, however, points to the fact that the older, and more conservative Clergy within the SDA Church are finally waking up to the changing face and soul of the SDA Church, which doesn’t believe that belonging to the Catholic Church, or any other denomination for that matter, is one of the worst sins known to scripture.
But first things first. Let us face it. These ladies’ dressing is by any definition decent. Their dresses go all the way to their ankles, and they do not have any slit of any length or description whatsoever. The Pastor’s claim that they were indecently dressed is therefore void ‘ab initio’, and can only have been invoked, as an excuse, to cover the real reason why he wanted them expelled.
When SDA pastor sees a lady with lipstick, they can faint.
Okay, it has been argued that two of the ladies had earring on, but the fact that even after they chucked them, upon being informed that they are prohibited, the Pastor was not pacified is testimony that that was not ‘the Elephant in the room’.
Let me use my own wedding to illustrate how, in my opinion, the Pastor ought to have gone about it. I had a very Catholic Church Wedding, but a half of the bridal party were not Catholics, with a good number of them being SDAs. Two days before the Wedding, the Priest and Catechist patiently took us all through our roles, his expectations, the dos and don’ts, and practically every little detail that was important for us to internalize.
The next day, on the eve of the wedding, we did a ‘dry run’ inside the Church to polish up everything. On D-Day, everything ran like clockwork, and you couldn’t tell there were bridesmen and bridesmaids that weren’t Catholic!
