Will you return dowry if your daughter was to split with her husband? My self i can’t. Does dowry even have evidence? Read below as Wahome Thuku Narrates on Facebook.
So a lady (mother of three) divorced the wealthy “husband” in October 2021, through a divorce petition at Milimani Courts in Nairobi. They had cohabitation since 2009 and gotten three kids. I have written about that couple here before.
The two were strong Christians and members of the PCEA Nairobi West. When they met, the man was a real Hustler, the skin scratcher. Now he owns a multimillion toiletries company.
A few years ago, the man turned rogue after joining Gwata Ndaî a controversial Gîkuyu cultural organisation. He started threatening to wipe out the family if the wife and young daughter did not get the cut.
WT
He started indoctrinating the children with every negative thing about Christianity and the Bible. He became extremely violent, got involved in dozens of women, sired children out there all out of peer pressure…He moved out of their home and went to leave with a shut, then broke up with her and moved to another.

The wife filed the divorce and the marriage was dissolved. Actually it was not a marriage as such. The lady tells me the man had never paid even one goat or one shilling as dowry.
She told the court that the man had started paying, so that the divorce could go through. Actually the man never reaponded to the case.
The lady also filed for custody of the kids and maintenance by the man. The man lied to the court that he was only an employee of the company (Actually its his company). He said he couldn’t afford the upkeep. The Court ordered him to be paying rent and school fees. He doesn’t pay rent. Recently he was arrested for failing to pay the school fees.
Next, the lady filed a case for matrimonial properties. In response the man said he was never married to the woman hence she never contributed anything.
This is what he said in his affidavit, “knowing a home does not necessarily constitute to be a ceremony to validate and legitimise an alleged marriage”. He however admitted they had gotten three kids together.
So the man has sent emissaries to the lady’s 68 Yr old father in Nakuru. He wants to hold a Gikuyu ceremony of officially dissolving the marriage and family ties and officially disowning the children. So that should the children ever need him in future they would have to go through another ceremony of admission.
The old man said he doesn’t want to be involved in matters already concluded by a court of law and others still pending in court. That is how and why the man went to report the father in law to the Sub-Chief of Bibirioni Sub Location in Nakuru North.
On Wednesday the Sub Chief wrote a summons through chairman of Nyumba Kumi, requiring the old man to report at his office on Monday 10.am. failure to which he would be prosecuted for disobeying the orders.
Iam not sure this chief knows that these are matters already concluded by the court. I guess he has been fed very well and become blind. How does a sub chief summon an old man over the daughter’s divorce. Na kama wali divorce wakiwa America what would he, the chief do? Silly chief.
I wanted to tell the mzee not to go but I would like him to go just for comic relief. This chief is in the right government.
